Dean Gofnung is a Ukrainian and Egyptian filmmaker from Los Angeles, with a passion for cinematography, editing, and sound design. He is a 2026 YoungArts National Winner in narrative filmmaking, as well as one of 13 young artists recognized by Film Independent in their Future Filmmakers Class of 2025. Dean is currently getting his B.F.A. in Film and Television Production at the prestigious University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts.

After discovering the classic monster film era of the 1930s-50s at a young age, Dean fell in love with cinematic storytelling, and how the elements of picture and sound both contribute to the narrative process in their own unique ways. Still holding onto that same inspiration, Dean loves telling his stories of personal experience through a retro lens and with a fantastical flair. When not cutting his next movie, Dean is a French horn player and a custom LEGO model designer!
